Tabea Schrenk ist eine berliner Cellistin, die sich an der Schnittstelle von Klassischer und Improvisierter Musik bewegt.
Sie ist Mitglied des genreübergreifenden Fabia Mantwill Orchesters und des Stegreif Orchesters, für das sie auch klassisches Repertoire arrangiert und rekomponiert. Mit dem Cellotrio she plays cello entwickelte sie zusammen mit den Cellistinnen Lillia Keyes und Samira Aly Programme und eigene Arrangements mit einem Schwerpunkt auf oft übersehenen Komponistinnen.
Tabea studierte Cello und Barockcello in Berlin, Helsinki, London und Cardiff und schloss ihren Master in Cello Performance mit Auszeichnung ab. Sie ist Preisträgerin des Alice Samter Wettbewerbs, des Internationalen Bach Wettbewerbs Berlin und der J.S. Bach Competition London. In den letzten Jahren spielte sie unter anderem in der Elbphilharmonie, der Frankfurter Oper, auf dem Beethoven Fest Bonn, dem Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival und dem Luzern Festival.
Mit der schwedischen Komponistin und Pianistin Shida Shahabi tourte sie 2023 in Großbritannien und eignete sich dafür den Umgang mit elektronischer live Bearbeitung und Effekten für ihr Instrument an.
2023 fand die Uraufführung ihrer neuesten Komposition „out of time“ für Streichquartett statt, für die sie mit dem Regisseur Tarek Shayne Tabet der Cinematographin Carola Sanchez Rodriguez einen Kurzfilm entwickelte. Die Komposition wurde anschließend von BBC Radio 3 in der Sendung „Night Tracks“ besprochen und ausgestrahlt. Zur Zeit arbeitet Tabea an fünf weiteren Kompositionen für Streichquartett die als Album 2025 veröffentlicht werden.
